Interface your Vehicle Logistics system to automated Port Processors like ICL and Glovis.
Port Processors like ICL and Glovis push flat data files (simple text files) from their internal systems to FTP sites. Your system must download these files, parse them and use the data to update your database with vehicle allocations, releases, cancellations etc. Then your system must send pickup/delivery information and invoices back to the port processors.

We have extensive experience working with these kinds of interfaces. We build Windows services to poll the processors’ FTP sites and download and parse the files, using the data to update your database. We’ll put some simple hooks into your system (or just define them for you if you’d like your current developers to insert the hooks) to use for the pickup/delivery notifications and invoices that need to be sent back to the processors (also via a service).

Also, port processor systems are seldom without their problems. We can help resolve invoicing and payment issues with data management and personal contact.

Create a Microsoft Windows Service to run a process in the background.
Microsoft Windows Services are programs that run in the background on Windows systems. Common services include anti-virus and firewall software.

If you have tasks that need to be executed regularly, these can be inserted into a Service. Services can check FTP sites and update databases. They usually run on timers with intervals of a few minutes to hours or days. (The interval can be modified in an admin panel.)

We’ve written multiple services, in particular services that interact with Vehicle Logistics Port Processors. The services receive and process vehicle logistics data from ports (allocations, releases, etc) and send pickup/delivery notifications and invoices. These services poll FTP sites for flat files, download and parse the files, and modify databases.

We have generic Services as well. BW Service Monitor checks to make sure that problematic services (services that crash) are up and running. BW Procedure Service runs database stored procedures on multiple databases.
